Many MMA fans have long fantasised about a potential fight between the two Nigerians of the UFC, Kamaru Usman and Israël Adesanya. The two "brothers" have never wanted to fight each other in the octagon. But fans could get a 100% African showdown before the end of 2023. Dana White, the UFC boss, has promised it. He is going to look to make a fight between Israël Adesanya and Dricus Du Plessis. The Nigerian and the South African will never go on holiday together. They want to settle things in the octagon and spend their time trading insults on social media.
"I'm the real African fighter in the UFC"
For Dricus Du Plessis, Israël Adesanya, Kamaru Usman and Francis Ngannou are not real Africans because they have not lived there for years. "Have their belts ever been to Africa? As far as I'm concerned, they've just stayed in the United States or gone to New Zealand. I'm going to bring one back to Africa. I'm the real African fighter in the UFC, along with Cameron Saaiman (South Africa). We're the ones who breathe African air, who were born there, who live there, who train there. That's what an African champion is, and that's what I'm going to become," says the South African.
"He's a product of colonisation"
That statement has angered Israël Adesanya. And the UFC middleweight champion hopes to get the chance to cross paths with 'Stillknocks' and settle the score. "It drives me crazy. That's why he'll be my next opponent. I don't want anybody else. I want to kick his a..," replied The Stylebender.
Aged 29, Dricus Du Plessis has a total of 19 wins and 2 defeats in MMA. But most of his fights were in Africa at the EFC. In the UFC, he has fought only 5 times, winning all 5. In July, he will face Robert Whittaker, who was beaten twice by Israël Adesanya.
