Morocco's run in the women's team event ended in the semi-finals of the African Table Tennis Championships in Tangier on Tuesday 20 October. The Moroccans lost three matches to none against Egypt, who go through to the final, scheduled for the same day.
Meshref and Goda give Egypt two points
Dina Meshref opened the tie against Malak Ghounim. The Egyptian won in three games, taking each of them 11–3. Hana Goda then beat Nour Slamti with an equally steady scoreline: 11–5, 11–5, 11–5. Egypt were then two matches to none up.
This time, the Moroccans could not turn it around. The day before, in the quarter-finals, they had come back from two matches down against Madagascar to win 3–2. That win had put them in the last four of the continental event.
Berrada takes a game, Fathy finishes it off
Dina Berrada kept the tie going by winning the first game of the third singles, 11–6 against Hend Fathy. But the Egyptian took the next three, 11–9, 11–4 and 11–7, to secure the winning point.
The team score of 3–0 therefore reflects three singles wins for Egypt. Across those individual matches, Morocco won one game.
