He has already scored 6 goals in the Bundesliga this season, more than his previous best return, which came last season in the Bundesliga (5). Having spent time at Stuttgart, where he was known as a tricky but untidy winger, Omar Marmoush did not extend his contract when he returned to Wolfsburg from his loan, where he began to play regularly as a centre-forward.
Now a new chapter is being written with the Egyptian forward, much to the delight of his coach Dino Toppmöller. "Omar is a very good player who has now discovered how to score goals", admitted his manager after Marmoush's double against Union Berlin on 4 November (a 0-3 win, matchday 10). "We are working with him. I simply like the fact that he works extremely hard, that he listens, that he is attentive and involved. The goals he is scoring at the moment are also a reward for his hard work." He had in fact just scored his 5th and 6th goals in 5 matches in all competitions.
Efficiency now seems to be creeping into Omar Marmoush's game, to his great satisfaction, with 10 goals in all, including 3 in the Europa Conference League. His back-to-goal play is also appreciated at Frankfurt, who are therefore not missing Randal Kolo Muani. At the same stage last season, the Frenchman had scored only 3 goals, but he was providing assists.
With the Africa Cup of Nations imminent, Marmoush's form and his growing confidence in his new role are more than welcome news for Egypt.
