Ivory Coast's Elephants will face Comoros' Coelacanths on Tuesday 28 March 2023 in AFCON 2023 qualifying, with a new member of the 100-cap club. Max-Alain Gradel, who joined the national team in 2011, has reached 100 caps as of Monday 27 March 2023. He has scored a total of 16 goals over twelve years in which he has delighted Ivorian fans, notably at AFCON 2015 in Equatorial Guinea.
In an unfavourable position before the decisive final group game, the former Bournemouth, Saint-Etienne and Toulouse player struck a superb shot against Cameroon to send Ivory Coast into the next round. The competition ultimately smiled on Hervé Renard's men, who claimed their second continental title. "The Ivorian Football Federation congratulates and thanks Max-Alain Gradel on his 100th cap!" the FIF said on its official channels.
