For the 39th edition of the Faso Cup, the final will offer a unique and highly symbolic duel: FC Vitesse against Sporting Football des Cascades (SFC). It’s a historic final in more ways than one. For Vitesse FC, the emblematic club of Bobo-Dioulasso, this is a first qualification for the final of the Faso Cup. Les Guépards de Vitesse FC have achieved a remarkable run, notably eliminating Réal du Faso in the semi-finals on penalties (1-1, 5-3 Pen). This performance rewards the determination of a group that fights at the bottom of the national championship table but finds its soul in the cup. Coach and players showed a good defensive strength and efficiency in key moments.

Opposite, the Sporting Football des Cascades (SFC) is not a stranger to the final phases. Coming from the Tenakourou Football Academy, based in Niangoloko near Banfora, in the Cascades region, the club proudly wears the colors of a training center recognized for its work in detecting and hatching young nuggets. The SFC qualified by defeating CFFEB (1-0) in the semi-finals, confirming their beautiful campaign. This journey recalls that of the previous year when the team from the same academic pool had already made an impression. In the final of the 38th edition of the Faso Cup, the club of the Cascades lost in penalties (1-1, 3-1 pen) at the municipal stadium Issoufou Joseph Conombo of Ouagadougou, in front of Rahimo FC.

This poster is also called by some observers "the duel of academies". The SFC embodies the pure model of local training: young people from the vivier of Tenakourou, long-term work in Niangoloko, and a philosophy that focuses on discipline, technique and education. Vitesse FC, on the other hand, represents the resilience of a club that knows how to reinvent itself and tap into its bobo roots to create surprise.

A symbol for Burkinabe football
Beyond the sporting issue, a ticket for the CAF Confederation Cup in case of victory, this final highlights two complementary realities of national football: on one hand, the power of the major clubs of Bobo-Dioulasso, on the other, the emergence of training structures in the interior of the country, far from the spotlight of Ouaga.

The Tenakourou Academy, led with passion for years, continues to prove that talent is everywhere in Burkina. From Niangoloko to the national final for the second consecutive time, the road is long, but the results are there. For Vitesse FC, this is an opportunity to definitively enter the club’s modern history and offer its fans a first major title.

The final, whose exact date and location, probably at the Stade du 4 Août, will be confirmed soon, promises a beautiful show. Two styles, two philosophies, one trophy.

Who will raise the 2026 Faso Cup? The romanticism of the academy of Tenakourou or the historical determination of Vitesse FC in Bobo? The whole of Burkina is waiting for the response on the ground.
