Sofyan Amrabat shone in Morocco's midfield at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Tireless, strong in the tackle and good at starting attacks from deep, he was everywhere, playing a major part in the Atlas Lions' historic run to the semi-final (lost 2-0 to France).

Since then, the Fiorentina midfielder has seen his stock rise sharply on the transfer market. He is wanted by several major European clubs, including Liverpool, who are looking to strengthen their midfield. The Reds would reportedly turn to Sofyan Amrabat if they fail to land the Borussia Dortmund England midfielder (Jude Bellingham), who is closely watched by Real Madrid and Manchester City.

But they could potentially be beaten to him. According to information relayed by Goal.com, the Moroccan was spotted, in a low-key disguise, at the Camp Nou during FC Barcelona's 1-0 win over Getafe last Sunday.

“Several fans told Relevo that the 26-year-old was in the main stand,” the outlet reports. “Dressed down and disguised by a cap, Amrabat took in the Camp Nou atmosphere first-hand.” That is enough to fuel rumours of mutual interest between the player and the Catalan club.

Amrabat, a strong option to replace Sergio Busquets

However, Barça have not (yet) said anything about their intentions regarding Amarabat, even though they are known to be looking for a defensive midfielder. With Sergio Busquets getting older and Frenkie de Jong still considered available for transfer, the current La Liga leaders would surely not be against the arrival of one of the stars of the Qatar World Cup.

Amrabat is currently valued at 6.5 million euros by the in-house algorithm of FootballTransfers and his contract at the Stadio Artemio Franchi runs until the summer of 2024, but Fiorentina are likely to ask for much more given his performances at the World Cup.
