Eliminated by Côte d'Ivoire in the eighth final (3-0), the Stallions experienced a laborious African Cup marked by a change of system with three central defenders against the Elephants that did not convince anyone.
Anxious to restore order, the Federation quickly recorded Brama Traoré’s fate in agreement with the country’s authorities. To replace him, several names are possible with the budgetary limits of a country that will not do anything crazy about a coach’s salary unlike other neighboring nations capable of signing a contract worth tens of thousands of euros per month.
Kamou Malo or Oscar Barro?
Eager to rely on a local technician, two names stand out: Kamou Malo, the coach of the 2021 expedition that ended with a fourth place finish, and Oscar Barro, a former player who recently guided the U17 team to a World Cup quarter-final.
Two men with different game philosophies who each have their supporters. If Malo does not only have friends in the Federation and with some players, he benefits from strong political support and a past journey that pleads in his favor.
Barro, for his part, embodies the new generation of Burkinabe coaches with great ambition, as demonstrated by his interview on Sport News Africa where he claimed to want to go all the way to the trophy with his U17 team at the World Cup.
Vincenzo Alberto Annese offers himself without asking for a salary!
Finally, the technical director of the stallions, Italian Vincenzo Alberto Annese counts on the support of the first vice-president of the FBF, Rahim Ouédraogo. Despite a sulphurous reputation in Asia, where he offered himself to federations no matter the conditions or the salary, the latter even proposed to take over the Burkinabè selection without being paid if necessary.
However, the trend is not to his promotion, he who had simply signed a three-month contract as National Technical Director of the national team and which has not yet been extended.
