Football - Ghana: Otto Addo sacked

It is an announcement that shakes Ghanaian football. In a statement issued during the night, the Ghana Football Association confirmed the end of its collaboration with Otto Addo, now removed from the head of the Black Stars with immediate effect.
"The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has separated from the head coach of the senior men’s national team (Black Stars), Otto Addo, with immediate effect,"
says the statement, which thanks the technician for his commitment before wishing him
"good luck in his future projects."
This dismissal occurs in a very worrying sporting context. Ghana remains on a series of poor performances, marked in particular by two defeats during the last international window: against Germany (2-1) and against Austria (5-1). Before that, the Black Stars had already lost against Japan and South Korea, fueling doubts around the technical project.
Three months before the 2026 World Cup, this decision reflects the urgency felt by Ghanaian leaders. Placed in group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama, Ghana will quickly have to find a new coach capable of reviving the momentum and restoring credibility to a team that is losing its bearings.
The Ghana Football Federation indicated that it would communicate "in due course" about the new technical direction. A nomination eagerly awaited, while the countdown to the World Cup is already well underway.
