Bamba Dieng is getting some color again. After irregular spells at Olympique de Marseille and then a contrasted start to the adventure in Lorient, the Senegalese international has been getting back on track in recent months . But despite this increase in power, his future in Brittany is already sealed: the player will not extend his contract with FC Lorient, which expires on 30 June.

A reference season to revive himself
The native of Pikine had one of the most productive seasons of his career. With 16 goals in 25 league matches, plus 5 Coupe de France goals, Bamba Dieng has already surpassed his personal record set during the 2021-2022 season in Marseille (8 goals). In a more stable and better defined role at Lorient, the striker regained his efficiency and spontaneity in front of the goal. A dynamic that has not escaped several clubs in France and Europe, even though Lorient, through its sports director Laurent Koscielny, had tried to extend it.

Lorient and Dieng, a separation that has been announced
Despite the efforts of the Breton club to secure its future, the discussions did not succeed. Bamba Dieng will therefore leave FC Lorient at the end of the season, after a two-year spell marked by ups and downs, but also by a clear increase in power towards the end. Having arrived on January 27, 2023 from Olympique de Marseille, the Senegalese striker had signed a four-and-a-half-year contract. He will not honor it to the end.

Germany in pole position

If several tracks exist in Spain, notably on the side of Betis Sevilla, it is in Germany that the file seems most advanced. According to Sky Sport, Hoffenheim positioned themselves concretely on the player and even took a lead in the negotiations. The Bundesliga club, currently well placed in the first half of the table, sees in Dieng an offensive reinforcement capable of bringing depth and percussion. Advanced discussions are ongoing between the different parties, although no final agreement has yet been reached.

A turning point for his career and selection
At the age of 26, Bamba Dieng is approaching a turning point in his career. A move towards a more exposed championship like the Bundesliga could offer him a new level, both in terms of sports and media.

In view of the 2026 World Cup, where he could be part of the group led by Pape Thiaw, a strong new season in Europe would be an important lever to consolidate his place in the national team and attract even more major clubs.
