On Friday 10 January, a crisis meeting was held following "numerous demands from the majority of Executive Committee members denouncing the unilateral decisions taken by the President and which have caused deep unease within the institution".

Six of the committee's eight members were present, as the president, Bouba Sampil, was not invited, while Hassimiou Diallo was excused for health reasons. In the end, a four-member commission was set up to rule on and propose solutions concerning two specific issues:

- The status of the people appointed as co-opted members by the President

- The situation of the coaches of the local national team, the Syli A'

According to a document dated 26 January seen by Sport News Africa, the commission confirms a "forged set of minutes" dated 1 March 2024 issued by Bouba Sampil, which has led to proceedings against him before the Feguifoot ethics committee for "forgery and use of forged documents".

Forged minutes confirmed

In short, the commission rejects the unilateral decisions taken by Bouba Sampil and, for example, calls for "the coaches affected by this unjustified decision to be reinstated in their roles so that they can continue their mission in charge of the local national team while awaiting official notification from CAF on the matter".

The conclusions call on Sampil to "work in collaboration with all committee members [...] He is required to share with them his thoughts on the institution's administrative, technical and financial matters in order to gather their opinions, suggestions and recommendations. This makes it possible to take decisions in line with the rules of collegiality set out in the texts."

Under pressure and still under investigation by the ethics committee over several matters (including match-fixing), Bouba Sampil now finds himself outnumbered within his own executive committee. It looks set to be a turbulent few weeks in Conakry...
