Dayot Upamecano and Carney Chukwuemeka challenge for the ball during Bayern–Dortmund in Munich on 31 October 2026.

Bayern led twice, but Dortmund found two answers. The Klassiker played on Saturday 31 October at the Allianz Arena ended in a 2–2 draw: Serhou Guirassy cancelled out Konrad Laimer's opener, then Fábio Silva replied to Dayot Upamecano's goal in the 89th minute. Both clubs remain unbeaten after eight rounds of the Bundesliga, level at the top of the table on eighteen points each.

Laimer puts Bayern ahead before the break

The first half offered chances to both sides before the game opened up. Michael Olise hit the post, while Jobe Bellingham tested Jonas Urbig. The Dortmund midfielder then thought he had put his side ahead, but his goal was disallowed after a VAR review.

It was Bayern who finally took the lead in the 38th minute. Played in by Olise, Laimer was first denied by Gregor Kobel before following up to score. Munich went into the dressing room in front, after a half in which Ismael Saibari and Serge Gnabry had both been forced off.

Kane misses the chance to double the lead, Guirassy equalises

The next turning point came after the restart. A handball by Felix Nmecha gave Bayern a penalty. Harry Kane could have given his side a two-goal cushion; in the 56th minute, his effort hit the crossbar of Kobel's goal.

Four minutes later, Dortmund were level. Carney Chukwuemeka burst into the box and set up Guirassy, who finished first time. The Guinean striker turned that chance into the BVB's first goal and put his team back into a match in which they had until then been chasing the scoreline.

Upamecano restores Munich's lead, Silva hits back again

The scores stayed level for only six minutes, however. From a Joshua Kimmich cross, Kane headed the ball back across goal for Upamecano. The French defender scored in the 66th minute, putting the Bavarians back in front.

Bayern could not make that lead last. In the 89th minute, Fábio Silva found the net to snatch the 2–2. Munich hit the woodwork once more through Lennart Karl, but could not find the third goal that would have decided the game.

For Dortmund, the point comes from two separate comebacks: Guirassy brought the BVB back after Kane's missed penalty, and Silva saved them late on. Bayern keep top spot but failed to open a gap on their rivals. Both sides now have the same record of five wins and three draws, and the battle for the lead remains open.
