Kaylia Nemour topped qualifying in the individual all-around at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Rotterdam on Monday 19 October. With 55.999 points across all four events, the Algerian finished ahead of American Skye Blakely (55.465) by 0.534 and of Liudmila Roshchina (55.098). She also qualified for the finals on uneven bars and beam.

Top all-around total and best bars score

On the uneven bars, Nemour kept first place at the end of the ten subdivisions with 14.933 points. Germany's Helen Kevric followed on 14.766, ahead of France's Elena Colas, third with 14.533. The gap between the top two was 0.167 of a point.

The Algerian's score combined a difficulty of 7.100 points and an execution of 7.833. Difficulty measures the value of the elements and the links between them; execution reflects how well they are performed. Her routine therefore put her ahead of Kevric despite an execution score lower than the German's (8.366).

Third final secured on beam

Nemour also qualified on beam, where her 14.133 points earned her the eighth and last qualifying place. She finished level on total with Elena Colas, ranked seventh. China's Qingying Zhang (15.100) and Qiyuan Qiu (14.966) took the top two places on the apparatus, ahead of Brazil's Flavia Saraiva (14.400).

In the all-around, Nemour added 14.033 points on vault and 12.900 on floor to her bars and beam scores. Those four results gave her the best total of qualifying. They do not amount to a medal: the finals have yet to separate the qualified gymnasts.

The women's all-around final is scheduled for Friday 23 October at 19:30 in Rotterdam, which is 18:30 in Algeria.
