Kaylia Nemour strikes gold twice at 2026 World Championships
Two finals, two gold medals. Algerian gymnast Kaylia Nemour won a double at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Crowned on the uneven bars on 24 October, the Paris 2024 Olympic champion repeated the feat the next day on the beam. The performance confirms her status among the best gymnasts in the world, at just 19.

The double is all the more striking given that the Algerian had missed out on the podium in the individual all-around. Far from being dragged down by that early disappointment, she negotiated the apparatus finals superbly to leave with two world titles in the space of 24 hours.
The first triumph came on the uneven bars. With a score of 15.333 points, Kaylia Nemour retained her world crown ahead of Germany's Helen Kevric and American Skye Blakely. The following day, she confirmed her mastery on the beam, where her routine earned 14.566 points and a second gold medal.
Two titles that reward the precision and consistency of the Algerian gymnast in her best events. "I'm completely in shock," she said after winning the beam title. While she had hoped to land a medal, outright victory exceeded her expectations.
The performance was also praised by Algerian president Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who sent his congratulations to the athlete for her two world titles and her career in the national colours.
Already Olympic champion in Paris in 2024, Kaylia Nemour adds two more major triumphs to her honours list. This world double marks an important step in her progression and fuels her ambitions ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
