Aspiring agents sat the first exam on 19 April, organised by FIFA for football agents. There were initially 3,800 candidates. The federation led by Gianni Infantino released the results on Thursday 27 April: 1,962 candidates passed, a success rate of 52%. Those 1962 candidates will now be able to work as agents and arrange transfers around the world. They come from 138 member associations.
The source puts the initial number of applicants at “6 586.”, reproduced here in its original notation. Only around half took the final exam (3,800). FIFA nevertheless explains that unsuccessful candidates will have several opportunities to try again: first on 20 September 2023, then in May and November 2024.
To organise the exam, FIFA enlisted the help of 300 administrators of its Agents Platform. Encouraging player representatives to apply, FIFA explained that "at the end of the current transition period, the use of licensed football agents will become mandatory from 1 October 2023". Football’s governing body wants to regulate the sector to strengthen and better organise the agents’ profession, after several cases caused problems for players.
