Lazio can move provisionally top of Serie A when they host Parma at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday 24 October. Kick-off is at 18:45 UTC, or 19:45 in Brazzaville, on matchday eight. Lazio have nineteen points after seven matches and can move above Inter before the Milan club play on Sunday. Parma’s four-point total gives the visitors a different kind of urgency. Follow confirmed line-ups, the score and statistics in the Lazio–Parma match centre.

Lazio must build on their statement win

The 3–0 victory away at Juventus strengthened an impressive start. Gennaro Gattuso’s side have won six of their seven league games and remain unbeaten. After beating Venezia, Monza and Juventus, they seek a fourth consecutive win. Even a draw would take them to twenty points and leave them alone at the top temporarily.

That favourable position does not make the evening straightforward. Against struggling opposition, Lazio need the patience to move the defensive block without turning every possession into a hurried attack. The performance in Turin set a standard, but this home fixture brings a different responsibility: making the game rather than simply carrying over the confidence of their last result.

Parma have problems at both ends

Alberto Gilardino’s tenure began with two 3–0 defeats, against Inter and Torino. Parma have scored only four league goals, so the repair job goes beyond protecting their penalty area. To take anything from Rome, they also need routes out of defence and enough threat to prevent Lazio attacking without having to retreat.

Mali forward El Bilal Touré is in the travelling squad. His inclusion provides an attacking option, not confirmation that he will start. If selected, the service he receives will matter as much as his runs: an isolated forward can rarely relieve pressure on an entire team for long.

Returning options and competition for places

Matteo Cancellieri and Kenneth Taylor are in Lazio’s squad announced on Saturday. Morocco midfielder Reda Belahyane and Nigeria international Fisayo Dele-Bashiru are also included. Gattuso has options for adjustments, but only the official line-up will establish their roles at kick-off.

The test is whether Lazio can sustain pressure without allowing easy transitions. Parma need more than short periods of resistance; their spells on the ball must also carry them up the pitch.
