Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly cancel each other out
At Loftus Versfeld in South Africa, the clash between Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly ended in a draw (0-0). The South Africans had utterly dominated the match, with 73% possession, 617 passes and 87% pass accuracy. But from 8 shots, Peter Shalulile and his team-mates failed to hit the target once. The Cairo side, who relied on quick attacks and a solid defence, will be happy with the result.
The second leg of this semi-final tie will be played on Friday 25 April at 16:00 GMT at the Cairo International Stadium.
Two goals ruled out by VAR for Pyramids FC against Orlando Pirates
Pyramids FC could have come back from South Africa with a two-goal advantage. But alas! The Egyptian club had two goals disallowed after VAR intervention. Fiston Mayele and his team-mates had to settle for a goalless draw against Orlando Pirates at Soccer City Stadium. Everything remains open for the second leg, next Friday at 18:00 GMT at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo.
