What does the future hold for Francis Ngannou in the cage? Will he sign for another MMA fight? Since his victory over Cyril Gane on 22 January 2022, the Cameroonian has not fought in the octagon. He has recovered from a long-term injury, left the UFC for the PFL and taken part in a high-profile fight against Tyson Fury. With hardly any serious opponent in the PFL, the former UFC heavyweight king is heading towards the boxers. At present, talks over a possible Ngannou fight revolve only around Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder, two great boxing champions.

The latter has said several times that he is open to signing to face the Cameroonian in either a ring or a cage. Deontay Wilder reaffirmed that this weekend, while setting out certain conditions. "I'd like to know more about these 'hybrid rules'. I wouldn't mind fighting in the octagon. But I'd need to understand how the hybrid rules are set out. What do they mean by 'hybrid rules'? What can you do and what can't you do? I'm sure the rules are what they are, meaning the fight will sit somewhere between a boxing match and an MMA fight," the American boxer said in an interview.

"We have rules in boxing, we have rules in mixed martial arts. But when you combine the two, you have to come up with your own rules and that can get frustrating or confusing. But it could be something new and I'm all for change. I'd need to hear it, both sides would need to hear it, and we'd go from there," Wilder went on.
