Libya will compete in the fifth Arab Beach Soccer Cup, from 5 to 10 November in Port Said, Egypt. They are in Group B alongside Oman, Morocco and Lebanon. The matches will be played at the Porto Said stadium.
Eight national teams are taking part. Group A brings together Egypt, the hosts and defending champions, Saudi Arabia, Mauritania and Iraq.
Oman aiming for the title
Runners-up in 2023, Oman are preparing for the tournament at a training camp in Bawshar. In an interview with Oman Daily published on 30 October, head coach Talib Hilal says the Arab Beach Soccer Cup is more than preparation for the Asian Cup: the Omanis want to win a trophy that is missing from their honours list.
Goalkeeper Younis Al-Owaisi and international Zakariya Al-Qartoubi describe work aimed at correcting the mistakes made in the two friendlies played in Belarus, against the hosts and Iran. Al-Owaisi rates the group containing Libya, Morocco and Lebanon as strong.
In his 22 October interview with the Oman Observer, Talib Hilal had already announced his intention to keep the squad from this camp for the Arab and Asian tournaments. He described Morocco and Libya as two strong African opponents.
