Both sides create chances early on. Lyon go close to opening the scoring in the 17th minute, when Keito Nakamura hits the crossbar with a curling effort.

But five minutes later, Brest capitalise on a botched restart from Lyon goalkeeper Dominik Greif. Kamory Doumbia wins the ball, accelerates and finds Noah Edjouma on the right. He picks his spot with a low strike that ends up in the back of the net (22nd).

OL try to respond but lack precision in their attempts. Brest, for their part, remain dangerous before the break, notably through Edjouma and Ajorque, without managing to extend their lead.

VAR denies Lyon a chance to equalise

After the break, Brest drop deeper and hand Lyon more of the ball. The visitors think they have a chance to equalise in the 62nd minute, after a foul on Kaïl Boudache in the box. But after consulting the VAR, the referee reverses his decision and cancels the penalty initially awarded.

Brest then retake the initiative and come close to a second through Noah Edjouma, whose effort is kept out by Greif in the 65th minute. Lyon push in the closing minutes but cannot find a way through.

In stoppage time, after a first chance missed by Ajorque, Bradley Locko wins a penalty following a foul by Athekame in the box. The Brest striker steps up to take it in the 90+4 minute. His effort, slightly diverted by Greif, ends up in the net and seals the hosts' win (2-0).

This defeat is Lyon's third league loss of the season. OL surrender third place and now sit fourth. Brest, for their part, claim an important win and move into ninth position. Noah Edjouma was named man of the match.
