Nathan Ngoy célébrant le but de la victoire

After a balanced start, Lille found the breakthrough in the 24th minute. Following a fine team move, Soriba Diaoune took advantage of the ball coming back to his feet to beat Brice Samba with a powerful low drive.

The Rennes response was not long in coming. In the 31st minute, Boulaye Dia finished at the far post from a ball headed on by Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal to level the scores. Buoyed by the equaliser, the Bretons then stepped up their attacks, but failed to take the lead before the break.

Ngoy hands LOSC the three points

After the restart, both sides created several chances. Rennes came close to going ahead, but Berke Özer denied Musa Al-Tamari in the 65th minute.

Three minutes later, Lille capitalised on a Rennes turnover. Soriba Diaoune won the ball and found Nathan Ngoy at the edge of the box. The defender finished with a low shot to score the winner (68th).

Despite late Rennes pressure, LOSC held on to their advantage until the final whistle.

With this away win, Lille stay second in Ligue 1. Stade Rennais, beaten at home, sit fifth. Soriba Diaoune, involved in both Lille goals, was named man of the match.
