It looks set to be a hot summer at Liverpool. Knocked out of the Champions League and the domestic cups, Jurgen Klopp's side are sixth in the Premier League, well short of their usual standards. And to put this nightmare season behind them, the Reds want to make changes to get back to competing at the top. The club's hierarchy intend to bring in fresh blood to rejuvenate the squad. However, they could face a major problem: replacing Mohamed Salah.

According to Foot Mercato, the Pharaoh wants to leave this summer in search of a new kingdom. With 178 goals in 293 games, he has won over the fans and played a key part in winning the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League in 2020. And despite the Reds' dull season, Mo Salah remains decisive, with 22 goals and 11 assists in 39 games in all competitions this season. His stock therefore remains high on the market. According to the French outlet, he would like to play in Spain.

Be warned…

Elsewhere, a few voices are starting to call for Mohamed Salah to go. Last weekend, former Liverpool striker John Aldridge said that selling the 30-year-old Egyptian had certain advantages. "I hate writing negative things about a player who is a Liverpool legend. But there can be a debate about whether selling Salah this summer and using that money to reinvest in the team could be an option. That debate can wait until the end of the season. Until then, Salah has to lead Liverpool as a senior player, and he simply didn't do that at Bournemouth. "

However, Mohamed Salah could yet dribble past the doubters, as he is used to doing on the pitch. His agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, has denied the rumours of a departure. "Where did you get this from if not even Mohamed and I have discussed it? Please tell us," he said on his social media accounts.
