After a heated exchange of official letters with the Ministry of Sports last week, FEMAFOOT has finally backed down from holding its general assembly on the scheduled date.
Officially convened for "the adoption of the 2025 budget and the revision of certain texts", the assembly was suspended by the federation, notably to give the review commission time to do its work:
"The texts proposed for revision had been sent to FIFA for comments.
FIFA's experts made comments which must be incorporated into the draft revision.
To allow the Review Commission to carry out this overhaul and put forward a final draft, it was decided to suspend the Extraordinary General Assembly of 28 February 2025."
FEMAFOOT says it still has FIFA's full backing
A perfectly logical reason, though it does not stop some from questioning the balance of power between FEMAFOOT and the Minister of Sports, since the federation had defied the authority of its supervising ministry by refusing to be audited and by wanting to hold its assembly regardless.

While numerous rumours are circulating in Bamako about the federation's future, it presents itself as confident and claims to retain FIFA's support for its future projects, despite the imprisonment of its president, Bavieux Touré, for a year and a half.
