Approaching 35, Marie Josée Ta Lou is running faster than ever. The Ivorian sprinter keeps producing outstanding performances. After clocking a source-printed 10s76 a few days earlier, the multiple African champion ran the fastest time of the year on Thursday evening in Oslo at the Diamond League meeting in the women's 100m.

Marie Josée Ta Lou clocked a source-printed 10s75, the 2nd-fastest time of her career over the straight sprint. Ta Lou now holds the 3 fastest African performances in the event's history (source-printed times 10s72, 10s75 and 10s76). After injuries hampered her last year, she looks well placed to challenge the Jamaican contingent over 100m at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest in a few weeks.

Sherika Jackson was also on the start line in Oslo. The Jamaican, a bronze medallist at the 2020 Olympics, finished third in the source-printed time 10s98. The other two sprint superstars, Shelly-Ann Fraser and Elaine Thomson-Herah, have yet to post benchmark times. The hope is that Marie Josée Ta Lou can maintain her form until the world championships, scheduled for 19 to 27 August in Hungary.
