Morgan Guilavogui delivered the outstanding individual performance of Ligue 2 matchday 29. The Guinean forward, who scored his first goal for the Syli during the latest international break, showed Valenciennes no mercy. With an assist and three goals, he was the main architect of Paris FC's 5-4 away win. The hat-trick mattered both for the Parisians, seventh in Ligue 2, and for the striker, now well placed in the race to be top scorer. Those three goals lift him into 3rd place with 13 goals.

With nine matchdays still to play, Morgan Guilavogui is only two goals behind Metz's Georgian striker Mikautadze and just one behind Ivory Coast's Jean Philippe Krasso of Saint-Etienne. The contest even resembles a 10000m race in athletics. All six of Mikautadze's closest pursuers are African. Guinea-Bissau's Alexandre Mendy (Caen, 13 goals), Ivory Coast's Moise Sahi (Annecy, 12 goals), Nigeria's Josh Maja (Bordeaux, 12 goals) and Mali's Ibrahim Sissoko (Sochaux, 11 goals) are hot on the leading trio's heels.

The last African to finish as Ligue 2's top scorer was Mohamed Bayo, a compatriot of Morgan Guilavogui. The Guinean scored 22 goals for Clermont in the 2020-2021 season.
