Napoli scored in the first minute but never earned a quiet evening. The Italian side beat Bodø/Glimt 4–3 at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Tuesday 20 October 2026. Twice pegged back, they needed Scott McTominay’s double and a late fourth goal to collect their first points of the league phase.
Matteo Politano had provided an ideal opening: Leonardo Spinazzola crossed, the winger finished left-footed and Napoli led before the first minute was complete. Bodø/Glimt answered through Jens Petter Hauge in the 27th, with Sondre Fet supplying the assist. The fast home start had not extinguished the Norwegian threat.

McTominay restored Napoli’s lead in the 41st minute from Kevin De Bruyne’s pass. Andreas Helmersen then equalised in the 62nd, again assisted by Fet. At 2–2, the hosts had to rebuild their advantage once more.
The Scotland midfielder returned to the finishing role in the 75th minute, heading in Politano’s cross for 3–2. A Giovane move then forced an Odin Bjørtuft own goal in the 88th. Fet reduced the deficit at 90+4, too late to take the victory away from Napoli.
Napoli’s strength was their ability to find a solution after each equaliser. Politano contributed to the first and third goals, while McTominay gave their moves a runner and a finishing presence. De Bruyne provided the pass for the midfielder’s first goal.
That attacking success did not amount to continuous control. Bodø/Glimt had more possession, recovered twice and scored again in stoppage time. Napoli won the contest for efficiency, but conceding three prevents this result being treated as evidence that their defensive problems are solved.
Stanislav Lobotka replaced Frank Zambo Anguissa around the hour. Napoli introduced Mathías Olivera, Sam Beukema and Giovane in the 79th minute. Giovane contributed to the move for the fourth goal, giving the bench a significant role while only one goal still separated the teams.
Bodø/Glimt also refreshed several positions in the final quarter of an hour. Ola Brynhildsen replaced Helmersen, before Ulrik Saltnes, Haitam Aleesami, Joel Mvuka and Isak Määttä entered. The visitors maintained their effort through the final reduction of the deficit.

Scott McTominay is SNA’s player of the match. Both his goals restored the home advantage: 2–1 before the break and 3–2 with a quarter of an hour remaining. Finishing first with his foot and then his head, he made the difference in a match where Napoli could not rely on a lasting lead. This is SNA’s editorial choice.
Two goals that twice restored the lead.
Scored in minute one and assisted the third goal.
Two assists and the final Norwegian goal.
Two equalisers conceded before going 3–2 ahead.
Politano and McTominay took advantage.
A third goal conceded in stoppage time.
Napoli have their first win of the league phase and three points after three matches. The result revives their European campaign, while the performance leaves work to do in protecting their penalty area. Bodø/Glimt leave defeated despite two equalisers and a threat sustained into stoppage time.
