As a child, Joel Embiid never imagined himself at the top of the NBA. On the streets of his native Yaoundé, you were far more likely to find him with a football or a volleyball than an orange basketball. It was at the age of 16 that the Cameroonian started to spend time on basketball courts, taking his first rebounds and scoring his first baskets.

A few years later, after impressing at a basketball camp run by his compatriot Luc Mbah a Moute, who was playing in the NBA at the time, Jojo became the best player in the most prestigious basketball league in the world. A superstar for the Sixers, the 29-year-old has also been the league's top scorer in back-to-back seasons. Those are huge achievements that will undoubtedly make him a Hall of famer, once he retires.

Joel Embiid will earn 56 million dollars in 2025-2026

Despite his feats, Joel Embiid is still not in the NBA's top 10 highest earners. Drafted by Philadelphia in 2014, he signed an extension worth 191 million dollars in 2021. This season, The Process earned 33 million dollars (30 million euros), the 29th-highest salary of the year. This year's ranking was topped by Stephan Curry on 48 million dollars (43 million euros). Pascal Siakam, the other Cameroonian star in the NBA, took home 35 million dollars (32 million dollars), the league's 23rd-highest salary this season.

Next season, however, Joel Embiid will earn 46 million dollars (42 million euros). He will receive 50 million dollars in 2024-2025 (45 million euros) and a hefty 56 million dollars in 2025-2026 (51 million euros). These sizeable sums do not include all the bonuses that will further boost the Cameroonian's bank account. Being named MVP and making the All-NBA first team (the best 5 of the season) will almost certainly bring him a big cheque.
