Oluwaseun Peter Ogunsakin won the J200 junior tournament in Cairo, beating France's Matisse Martin 7–5, 6–3 on Friday 30 October on Egyptian clay. The event, played from 26 to 30 October, is part of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior circuit, which is separate from the professional ATP Tour.
A season that has taken in Wimbledon and the US Open
The Cairo title adds to a year that had already included two junior Grand Slam appearances. In July, Ogunsakin came through Wimbledon qualifying to reach the main draw. In September, he won a match in the junior draw at the US Open, against Chinese Taipei's Kuan-Shou Chen.
From Nigeria to the Sousse centre
Ogunsakin took up tennis with his father, Akinwunmi, before joining the ITF-backed training centre in Sousse, Tunisia, which hosts players aged 13 to 18.
In 2026, he was also part of the touring team of the Grand Slam Player Development Programme. A grant from the programme helped him fund his trip to Wimbledon qualifying.
