The town of Dimbokro, in central Côte d’Ivoire, was swept up in Olympic spirit on 6 and 7 May 2023. At the initiative of the National Olympic Committee of Ivory Coast (CNO-CIV), it hosted the 1st edition of the Olympic Sports Festival (FESPOL). The event featured a number of sporting activities involving 200 athletes from 16 Olympic disciplines. The big sporting occasion was widely enjoyed by local residents, who made no secret of their delight. The turnout from the young people of the Nzi region was particularly pleasing to Sports Minister Paulin Claude Danho, Minister of the Economy and Finance Adama Coulibaly, and mayor Bilé Diemelehou. Athletics, basketball, boxing, badminton, cycling, judo, gymnastics, golf, wrestling, karate, rugby, taekwondo, archery and volleyball were the disciplines that locals got to see up close on the occasion.
