A one-sided first half

José Mourinho's men wasted no time taking control of the game. In the 11th minute, Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring from the penalty spot after being brought down in the box by Matteo Prati. It was an important goal for the France forward, at the end of a particularly turbulent week that included finishing second in the 2026 Ballon d'Or and a row sparked by his comments about China.

Ten minutes later, Jude Bellingham doubled the lead. Set up by Arda Güler, the England international rounded the goalkeeper before finishing into an empty net. Real Madrid had already done the hard work, but Yan Diomande was about to add a spectacular touch to the display.

Diomande produces the moment of the night

In the 36th minute, the forward pounced on a loose clearance from the Santander defence and unleashed a superb right-footed volley. His powerful strike flew in under the crossbar, leaving the goalkeeper helpless. It was a goal of real class that put the visitors firmly in control before the break (3-0).

After the interval, Real Madrid were content to manage their lead, allowing Racing a few chances to attack without ever really being put under pressure. Kylian Mbappé hit the post on the hour mark, while a penalty awarded to the hosts for a handball by Aurélien Tchouaméni was eventually overturned after a check by the video assistant referee.

Jude Bellingham thought he had scored a second in added time, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Real stay in the hunt at the top

With this latest win, Real Madrid extend their winning run to six matches and stay third in the La Liga table. The Merengues remain three points behind leaders FC Barcelona, who thrashed Alavés (6-1), while Atlético de Madrid occupy second place.

Beyond the three points, this victory confirms Madrid's good momentum. Mbappé is back among the goals, Bellingham continues to contribute going forward and Yan Diomande stood out with a spectacular finish. It was a collective success that lets Real Madrid approach the rest of the season with confidence.
