Sagbali: season kicks off in July

The Ivorian Sagbali Federation, which governs Ivorian-style wrestling, is gearing up for another push across Côte d'Ivoire. Its season gets under way next July with the National Cup. According to Nicole Gueye, first vice-president and commissioner general, the competition will be hosted by the town of Bouaflé (centre-west), with team events for both men and women. In keeping with its aim of promoting the discipline, the members of Sagbali Ivoire Tour have chosen the Marahoué region as the venue. The fighters will battle it out for the trophy. The second competition, called Open Glory, will take place in November 2023. It will be an individual event. It gives Tapé Regina, the reigning women's champion, and Syni Ibrahim, the men's title-holder, a chance to shine again.
