Ivory Coast international Sébastien Haller, a decisive figure at AFCON 2024, is taking a new step in his career by becoming a minority shareholder and ambassador of Omega Sports Holding (OSH), a private investment company dedicated to the sports industry. The strategic partnership marks a turning point for the development of sport in Côte d’Ivoire and across the African continent.
The ambition: building a sustainable sporting ecosystem
Known for his commitment to African sport and the inspiration he provides to young people, Sébastien Haller sees the investment as a way to lift Ivorian and African sport to global level while boosting the local economy. “My career has taught me that sport is about more than winning on the pitch. It transforms lives and creates opportunities. By joining Omega Sports Holding, I want to help build a strong sports economy in Côte d’Ivoire and in Africa,” he said.
Omega Sports Holding: a strategic player for African sport
Founded by Cheick Sanankoua, OSH stands out for its bold vision of investing in teams, leagues, infrastructure and sports technology. With a budget of 50 million dollars to be deployed over the next 24 to 36 months, the company aims to make Africa a powerhouse in the world of sports business. According to Sanankoua, “Sébastien Haller’s arrival as a partner sends a strong message: African sport is a global force and a driver of development. Together, we want to create an ecosystem that benefits the community while propelling African sport onto the international stage. ”
The challenge of the post-AFCON 2024 legacy
AFCON 2024, for which the Ivorian state invested more than one billion euros, was a major event that mobilised resources to improve the country’s sporting and economic infrastructure. But for Sébastien Haller, that success must be built on: “Less than a year after the AFCON, my commitment to OSH aims to create a solid ecosystem that will allow young talents to flourish locally while aspiring to international careers. ”

Direct impact: Ivorian clubs and youth at the heart of the project
OSH already owns two major clubs in its portfolio: Racing Club d’Abidjan (RCA) in football, and Abidjan Basketball Club (ABC Fighters) in basketball. These clubs, engines of talent and economic growth, embody Haller’s vision of a thriving, international Ivorian sport.
RCA, one of the country’s most dynamic academies, is a talent pool for European football. As for ABC Fighters, a mainstay of Ivorian basketball, they have made their mark on the continental stage by reaching the Basketball Africa League (BAL) play-offs in 2023. Jean-Luc Agboyibo, OSH’s Managing Director, stresses the economic reach of the project: “ Côte d’Ivoire, through basketball and football, can become a hub for sports business. With figures such as Sébastien Haller and Nisre Zouzoua, we are consolidating a vision in which Ivorian sport is a driver of economic development and a major player internationally. ”
A shared vision for an ambitious future
Sébastien Haller’s arrival at Omega Sports Holding reflects a shared desire to make sport an engine of growth for Côte d’Ivoire and the continent. By joining an ambitious project, the Ivory Coast international confirms his commitment to African sport and to the development of young people. His example of international success and his investment in his home country create fresh momentum for Ivorian sport, promising a lasting legacy for future generations. By investing today, Haller and OSH are sowing the seeds of a future in which Côte d’Ivoire establishes itself as a hub for sport in Africa.
