Landry Shamet contributed 22 points in 30 minutes, shooting 6 of 8 from the field, including 4 of 6 from three, and was perfect from the free-throw line. On Monday 2 November 2026 in the United States, the Knicks beat the Nets 103-90 at Madison Square Garden, in front of 19,812 spectators. The final score mostly tells the story of a late swing: Brooklyn still led by four points going into the final quarter, before being outscored 28-11.

The win lifts New York to 3-4 and 8th place in the Eastern Conference in the standings as of 3 November. Brooklyn drop to 1-6, 13th in the same conference. The latest provisional injury report had Brooklyn's Tyler Bilodeau and Egor Demin both listed as out. The Knicks are also reported to be on a run of fifteen straight wins against the Nets.

A tight start, then an early New York lead

The first quarter began at an even tempo. With 6:15 left in the period, the two teams were level at 13-13, after a 10-0 run from the Knicks in the opening stretch. New York then finished the first period more strongly to build a six-point lead, 27-21. That start did not translate into sustained control, however: Brooklyn answered with a 12-0 run, begun late in the first quarter and extended into the second, enough to move ahead 30-27.

The Knicks hit back with seven straight points and regained the lead, 34-30. Midway through the second quarter, the game was level again at 34-34, a sign of a contest that was still unsettled. New York did, however, pull clear again before the break. At half-time, the hosts led 51-44. The game would finish with nine lead changes.

Brooklyn take the third quarter

The Nets' best spell came in the third quarter. Brooklyn won the period 35-24, finding an offensive response just as the Knicks had stretched the gap to nine points. Trailing 69-60 with 5:03 left in the quarter, the Nets went on a 13-0 run to take control, 73-69. Their biggest lead of the night rose to five points, at 77-72, with 1:14 left in the period.

At the end of the third quarter, Brooklyn led 79-75. The advantage was slim, but it was enough to put the Nets back in front after a first half that favoured the Knicks. On the night, Julius Randle finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds for Brooklyn. Michael Porter Jr. added 18 points, while Nolan Traore had 17 points and made 5 of 6 three-pointers.

The 28-11 that decided it

The final quarter turned the game completely around. New York opened the period with a 9-0 run, going from 75-79 to 84-79 in less than a minute. Brooklyn never found any offensive rhythm after that. The Knicks held on to the lead, then went on another 9-0 run, from 91-84 to 100-84. That score also marked the biggest margin of the game: sixteen points in New York's favour, with 3:08 left.

The 28-11 fourth quarter sums up the difference. Brooklyn had built their comeback on a 35-point third quarter, but scored only 11 in the last twelve minutes. In the end, New York finished with 31 field goals made out of 75, 17 three-pointers out of 44 and 24 free throws out of 29. Brooklyn ended up 29 of 76 from the field, 13 of 38 from three and 19 of 27 from the line.

Individual performances

For the Knicks. Shamet scored 22 points off the bench, with four three-pointers. Jalen Brunson added 19 points and 6 assists, despite shooting 6 of 16. OG Anunoby contributed 18 points, 2 steals and a plus-minus of +11. Karl-Anthony Towns scored only 11 points, but his 16 rebounds and 5 assists mattered to the team's balance. Josh Hart had a quieter scoring line, 8 points, but added 7 assists, 6 rebounds and 3 steals, with a plus-minus of +22.

For the Nets. Randle finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds, including 11 free throws made out of 15 attempted. His line also includes 5 of 16 shooting and 4 turnovers. Porter Jr. scored 18 points with 4 three-pointers, Traore 17 points in 24 minutes, and Mikel Brown Jr. added 13 points off the bench. Brooklyn hung with the Knicks in stretches, but not for long enough to withstand New York's late surge.

By the numbers

The fourth quarter. The Knicks turned a four-point deficit into a sixteen-point lead in the final period. Their 28-11 finish wiped out the 35-24 they had conceded in the previous period.

Outside shooting. New York made 17 three-pointers, against 13 for Brooklyn. That amounts to 51 points from beyond the arc for the Knicks, against 39 for the Nets. At the free-throw line, New York finished with 24 makes, against 19 for Brooklyn.

Team statistics. The Knicks grabbed 43 rebounds to 38, dished out 24 assists to 20 and turned the ball over as often as Brooklyn, 16 times. Those margins fit with the final gap in a game that was tight for long stretches.

The SNA view

The Knicks won a game that could have slipped away from them after the third quarter. Their response was emphatic: two 9-0 runs in the final period, a lead regained very quickly, then a gap opened up to 100-84. The most interesting aspect for New York is how the impact was spread around. Shamet scored 22 points, Brunson added 19 despite limited accuracy, Anunoby chipped in, and Hart made his mark without scoring much. Hart's plus-minus of +22 in 27 minutes illustrates an influence that is less visible in the simple points total.

Brooklyn can take something from their third quarter, but the fourth-quarter collapse was too costly to overcome. The Nets' best lead was five points and they went into the last twelve minutes in front. They were then limited to 11 points, which leaves almost no margin against a team that shoots from range and gets to the line. The twelve-point gap from behind the arc and the five extra free throws made by New York go a long way toward explaining the result.

What's next. The Knicks host the Chicago Bulls on 5 November at 1:30 a.m. Brazzaville time. The Nets welcome the Charlotte Hornets the same day, also at 1:30 a.m. Brazzaville time.
