Bad news for the Ivorian giants! The Confederation of African Football will launch a new competition in 2023. The first edition of the Super League will ultimately be played with eight (8) representatives. No Ivorian club is among them. That includes ASEC Mimosas, who were tipped as potential participants a few months ago. To take part in this groundbreaking tournament, a club must have a properly constituted women's team in its top-flight league. That is something ASEC currently lack. The Mimos have only just set up a women's section. It will begin life in the Ivorian women's D2 in a few months, so it cannot compete in a top-level competition run by the continental governing body, the Confederation of African Football.
