Bogged down by years of conflict, power struggles and a lack of resources, Chadian football does not look ready to get back on its feet.
On 16 February, the FTFA's interim general secretary, Baba Ahmat Baba, wrote an official letter to CAF to inform them that the women's national team would not play its first qualifying round tie for the 2026 AFCON against Senegal.
Citing a "delay in the process of releasing the necessary funds", he confirmed another forfeit, which could lead to a sanction and even a suspension from upcoming international fixtures. Sadly, it is a familiar story for the Sao, women and men alike.
Ibrahim Foullah's challenges against the February General Assembly
After the aborted electoral process at the end of 2023, the FTFA took more than a year to get going again, notably with the appointment of Baba Ahmat Baba as interim general secretary. It was a suggestion from the then sports minister (Abakar Djerma), approved by FIFA and challenged at CAS by Ibrahim Foullah, a candidate in the 2023 election.

The appeal by the former mayor of N'Djamena, who also owns a major top-flight club (Foullah Edifice FC) and has been troubled by various legal cases in recent years, ultimately failed.
However, that did not deter him from launching another CAS case, challenging the validity of the February 2025 General Assembly that voted on the make-up of the various electoral commissions.
Although no decision has yet been issued, Foullah is not backing down and is waiting patiently, while supporting his former rival, Moctar Mahamoud Hamid, behind the scenes.
Fast-track case from the former FTFA president
In the days of "President Moctar", the quarrels with Foullah, his vice-president, fuelled articles and files at the FTFA. Today, the two men seem to have made peace and are working together (Foullah is Moctar's campaign director) to win back the federation from Tahir Oloy Hassan, the former president of the fencing federation, whose list was the only one validated by the FTFA's electoral and appeals commission.
These decisions prompted Moctar Mahamoud Hamid to file an appeal with CAS as well, under the fast-track procedure, to overturn the appeals commission's decision concerning him, while also asking for his opponent's list to be invalidated.
These thorny legal battles cast a shadow over the elections scheduled for 1 March, and over the possible unity of Chadian football in the future.
