Kampala hosted the Swahili Esports Champions on March 7–8, 2026, combining industry meetings with competition at MoTIV. Sport News Africa revisits the event through the aftermovie published by SAGES Esports.

A women’s Tekken 8 tournament

The organiser’s programme set aside the second day for women competing in Tekken 8 on PlayStation 5. In its March 9 report, NBS Sport described a field of eight players from eight East African countries. Madagascar’s Nioh beat Kenya’s Bambina in the final. The official aftermovie description also confirms Nioh’s title.

Discussions before the matches

The opening day focused on regional cooperation, women in esports and educational uses of gaming. Competition followed the next day. SAGES published its aftermovie on March 27; the video is provided through the original YouTube player.

Context: this is a look back at a March 2026 competition, not an announcement of a new tournament.
