Egypt's boys' and girls' teams for players aged 16 and under will play at home from 2 to 8 November. Cairo's Smash Sporting Club is staging the juniors finals of the Davis Cup and the Billie Jean King Cup on clay. Both global team competitions are being held in Africa for the first time.

As the host nation, Egypt has a place in each draw. They are among the sixteen nations competing in both the boys' and the girls' events. They are two separate tournaments, each with its own title.

Three days of group play before the quarter-finals

In each competition, the teams will be split into four groups of four. Group matches will fill the first three days. Only the top two nations in each group will advance to the quarter-finals.

A rest day will separate this first phase from the final three days, which are devoted to the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals, as well as the placing matches.

Two chances for Egypt

The hosts will not be the only African representatives: Morocco have qualified in the boys' event and Tunisia in the girls'. Egypt will try to become the second African nation to win one of these competitions, after South Africa, who won the girls' event in 1994.

The United States arrive with both titles to defend. The American boys have won the last two editions; the girls are going for a fifth consecutive title.
