Tunisia's women's handball team will open the Three Nations tournament against DR Congo on Wednesday 21 October at 18:00 in Hammamet. The updated schedule then has them facing Argentina on Thursday 22 October, at the same time, in Grombalia. The top two teams in the standings will meet in the final on Saturday 24 October in Hammamet.
For the Tunisians, the tournament forms part of their preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations “Tunisia 2026”. The training camp in Hammamet during the international window includes players from European leagues. It combines work with the squad as a group with two international matches ahead of a possible final.
Four fixtures between Hammamet and Grombalia
The newly announced schedule features Tunisia, DR Congo and Argentina. It replaces the four-team programmes published earlier. Senegal and Guinea, named in various earlier versions, do not appear in the new line-up. Their absence, however, does not in itself explain why the line-up changed.
- Wednesday 21 October: Tunisia–DR Congo, 18:00, Hammamet.
- Thursday 22 October: Tunisia–Argentina, 18:00, Grombalia.
- Friday 23 October: DR Congo–Argentina, 18:00, Grombalia.
- Saturday 24 October: final between the top two teams, 18:00, Hammamet.
Tunisia will therefore know both of their opponents within the first two days. Friday's match, between the Congolese and the Argentines, comes before the finalists are decided. A place in the final for Tunisia will depend on the standings; it is not guaranteed before the tournament begins.
Argentina arrive with adjustment work to do
The Argentine team, nicknamed La Garra, also see the trip as a stage in their preparation. In an interview with Argentina Amateur Deporte, Martina Lang stressed the importance of recovery between matches, video analysis and the need to make the right decisions quickly against opponents whose characteristics differ from those faced in South America.
The squad also includes Mara López, who plays for Elche. The handball player spoke about her first senior call-up and her adjustment to training in Spain in an interview published by Misiones Online. Such career paths add another dimension to the Tunisian fixtures: bringing club experience into the workings of a national team assembled for a short period.
For Tunisia, the first point of reference is simple: a match against DR Congo in Hammamet on 21 October at 18:00, before switching venues to face Argentina the following day.
