The two Champions League quarter-finals this Wednesday evening have the air of a reunion. Between Barça, who comes out of a victory against Atletico Madrid led by Ademola Lookman in La Liga, and Liverpool led by Mohamed Salah, who returns to PSG, his executioner from last season, the feeling of revenge will be palpable both in Paris and Barcelona.

PSG – Liverpool, a revenge looms
The two teams had crossed paths in the round of 16 last season. After a victory (1-0) by the Reds in Paris, the Parisians also won 1-0 at Anfield before snatching their qualification for the quarter-finals on penalties (4-1). A year later, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain find themselves in the quest for a place in the semi-finals this time.

In 2025, Mohamed Salah was much too discreet, muzzled during the double confrontation by Nuno Mendes. The Pharaon, who missed a Cup penalty in last week’s 4-0 defeat by Manchester City, is expected to be at the turning point, especially as it will be his last European campaign with Liverpool.

In front, it is an Achraf Hakimi with great confidence who will ensure the connection on the right flank of the Parisian defense, always with his ability to project himself and bring the extra number into the opposing half of the field.

Barça – Atletico, Lookman as savior of the Colchoneros?
Left to rest this weekend during the defeat (1-2) in La Liga, Ademola Lookman will most likely start this first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against FC Barcelona tonight at Camp Nou.

The Nigerian winger who had been brilliant in the semi-final away of the Coupe du Roi with a goal and an assist during the humiliation (4-0) inflicted on the Catalans, will be expected tonight to make the difference. With Julian Alvarez and Antoine Griezmann, the Ballon d'or africain 2024 has the weight of the colchoneros fans' hope on its shoulders.
