Wherever she has gone, Tabitha Chawinga has been a hit. From Sweden to Italy via China, the Malawian forward has always been named top scorer in those leagues. It is largely on the strength of those performances that Paris Saint-Germain signed the elder of the Malawian sisters. The 27-year-old joined the French club on loan from Wuhan Jianghan University at the very end of the transfer window.
Since then, she has been a shining light for PSG. The Malawian already has 5 goals in as many games in the D1 Arkema. Tabitha Chawinga even scored a hat-trick on matchday 7 of the league season. On Wednesday 15 November, she will take another step in her brilliant career: playing in the group stage of the Women's Champions League. It is a dream come true for the Malawi captain. “Yes, playing in the UEFA Women's Champions League for the first time in my career is an important step for me. It was my dream, and I think it's every player's dream. So it's a new step that is very important for me,” the player told the PSG website.

In a tough Group C that includes Ajax, Bayern and Roma, Chawinga expects difficult games. “It's a good group, which is a good thing. Of course, a lot of people are saying it's the group of death. It's going to be interesting. I think no bad team plays in the Champions League, so all the teams that have qualified are good. We have to be ready to face each of those teams ,” she said.
Last season's best player in the women's Serie A is nonetheless confident and is aiming to win the competition with PSG. “Every team's goal is to win. We train to win, and I think every team works hard for that. It's true that this first game will be away from home for us, but I think we are ready to play and compete with Ajax. ” Chawinga's Champions League debut comes on Wednesday 15 November at 19:00 GMT.
