The regular season is over in volleyball, and the play-offs are up next this weekend. They will feature blockbuster semi-finals in both categories. In the women's competition, Asec Mimosas will take on the INJS Etudiantes. CO Descartes, meanwhile, will face Stella Club for a place in the final. Two cracking semi-finals between the four best teams of the regular season.
CO Descartes, who remain the big favourites for these play-offs, will give everything to reach a 3rd straight final. To do so, the Cartésiennes will have to get past the Magnans of Stella. Hampered by the absence of several key players, the Adjamé side are hoping to pull off a shock against the reigning champions. For their part, the Mimosas will try to back up their dominance in the regular season by winning this semi-final. But it will not be so straightforward against an Etudiantes side capable of springing a surprise.
Battle of the brothers in arms
In the men's competition, the clash between the Société Omnisports de l'Armée (SOA) and AS Police will be one to watch. The battle of the brothers in arms promises to be electric. The Sondjas go in as favourites, having won four of their last six meetings with their opponents. It is a chance for the Policiers to hit back and book a place in the final. In the other semi-final, INJS are still waiting to find out who they will face. The two-time defending champions will be the team to beat again this season after two years of unrivalled dominance.
