From a floated corner delivered by the ageless Luka Modric, Nikola Vlasic, left completely unmarked at the back post, headed in unstoppably (2-1). It was a hammer blow from which Ghana would not recover.

With this important win, Croatia snatches second place (6 points) from Ghana to settle just behind England, the group leader with 7 points after their victory over Panama (2-0). The Black Stars thus slip down to third place.

Nonetheless, the tally remains favorable for Carlos Queiroz’s men. Thanks to 4 points gained from previous matches, Ghana has mathematically secured its spot among the best third-placed teams in this expanded group stage. While the disappointment of defeat is real, the essential objective is met: Ghana will be present for the round of 16.
