Al Ahly SC has once again inscribed its name on the African volleyball summit. After the girls in Cairo, the Egyptian club won the 47th edition of the African Men’s Volleyball Club Championship in Kigali, at the end of a masterful final against Police VC.

The realism of the champion
In an electric BK Arena in Kigali, acquired for the cause of the police premises, Cairo won in three straight but fiercely fought sets (25-20, 25-21, 25-22) in 1 hour and 20 minutes. A clear success on the surface, but built on a careful reading of key moments.

Because the meeting has long rested on a paradox. From the first set, played for 31 minutes, Police VC shows better offensive statistics and is more sharp in service. Yet, the Rwandans face their own irregularity, multiplying mistakes in attack. On the other side, Al Ahly shows a relentless realism: few mistakes, an effective block, and a decisive point management that makes the set shift.

The scenario is repeated in the 2nd set, once again won by the Egyptians. In the third round, the Rwandans carried by their public raise a little more their level, but the Egyptian steamroller is launched. Without trembling, Al Ahly plays his game and concludes the match (25-22). More disciplined and effective in decisive moments, the Egyptians raise the trophy once again.

Beyond this success, Al Ahly confirms above all their dominance in the competition. The Egyptian club completes a perfect course, without conceding any set, successively dominating Cameroon Sports, Equity Bank, Sport-S, Kepler VC and AS Injis in the group stage, then Kalibi SC, Faith Union Sport and Petrojet SC in the final stages. An end-to-end demonstration of strength, which enshrines an undisputed champion.
