With 30 goals and 11 assists in 51 games last season, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang stood out in a Marseille squad and was the driving force behind their run in the Europa League. He is a timely goalscorer whom the club's hierarchy and new head coach Roberto De Zerbi intend to build around as they shape the squad for the coming season.

However, Marseille's plans could be seriously disrupted by interest from Saudi Arabia. Continuing their recruitment policy of last season, Saudi clubs are once again active in the market, and Al-Qadisiyah, champions of the 2nd Division, have set their sights on the Panther. Billed as a future powerhouse of the league, the club, which is funded by a global energy giant, intends to make several big moves this summer, starting with the signing of a prolific striker in Aubameyang.
There is still no agreement between OM and Al-Qadisiyah over the size of the transfer fee. Foot Mercato reports that the two parties are negotiating and that the Gabonese's agent was at Olympique de Marseille's training centre to move his client's case forward. At 35, PEA has the chance to sign one last big contract, even if the player is taking time to think it over. Will he give in to the Saudi sirens?
