Between Sinayoko and AJA, the story could not end better. And yet, no one expected another romance between the 26-year-old centre forward and Auxerre after the summer soap opera of 2025 and his transfer to Lens blocked by the club when all parties had already agreed.
Lassine Sinayoko had to be patient and show some maturity to digest the disappointment of this missed start to start the new season with the Ajaists. And for his first match of the season, he gave the victory (1-0) to his team against Lorient, before repeating against Nice (defeat 1-3) during the following day. The Eagle took off and carried AJA on its wings throughout the season.
But it was especially in the last three matches of the season, the most decisive ones in the race for a place to stay, that Lassine Sinayoko raised the bar on his performances. The Malian striker was simply unstoppable. Scorer and passer against Angers (3-1 win), he also found a break against Nice (2-1) before sealing the AJA’s victory with his double on Sunday against LOSC (2-0).
«We beat all the odds, we were confident and we knew that this band had a lot of quality. We thank everyone (the fans), because they have always believed in us and supported us. It’s very beautiful to end up like that,"
he reacted, breathless but relieved, at the microphone of Ligue1+.
A departure that is now inevitable
In total, Lassine Sinayoko has scored 12 goals and delivered 4 assists in 32 Ligue 1 matches this season, the most prolific of his career in the top flight. With this posture that bears his signature, the Malian can have the feeling of accomplishment and therefore calmly consider a departure in summer.
Moreover, Sinayoko was a "gentleman" to the end with Auxerre by accepting a one-year contract extension (until 2027) when he could have left for free in June. A way to replenish the coffers of the club where he spent seven years at the time of his departure. And with the season he has just had, AJA can rub his hands together. Moreover, the Malian is in the sights of Crystal Palace, which should not be the only one interested in him this summer.
