The heavyweights did not stumble in round 5, with JCA winning the Treichville derby in the men's competition, while in the women's, ABC and CSA lived up to their billing. A week after losing the Abidjan derby to Abidjan Basketball Club (ABC), Club Sportif d'Abidjan (CSA) lost the Treichville derby this weekend against Jeunesse Club d'Abidjan Treichville. Facing the leaders, the Black and Whites tried for a long time to hold out before eventually going down by 14 points (69-83). Earlier, ABC had confirmed their good form by beating Robc (78-52).
Africa keep conceding heavy defeats. Beaten (121-39) the previous round by SOA, the Aiglons again took a battering this weekend against the Warriors (101-45).
While CSA are struggling in the men's competition, it is the opposite in the women's, where the club is thriving. The Treichville side picked up another win against Indénié (82-39), which lets them move steadily towards the play-offs. So did the other heavyweights, ABC and SOA, who beat NCA and Gspm respectively.
