The defending champions made a mixed start to the season on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 December 2022. Abidjan Basketball Club won the first women's derby of the season against CSAT, with the Rouge-Blanc prevailing by 61 to 52 on Saturday. Solange Bognini, who recorded a double-double (14 points, 12 rebounds), and her team-mates were no match for ABC's inspirational captain Salimata Berthé, who also posted a double-double (15 points, 13 rebounds), and her side. In the men's competition, however, ABC fell to ABI Snipers (47-59) on Sunday. All the men's matches took place, but one women's game could not be played. The promotion play-off between UE3A and DC Arrow, which opened the season, was awarded to UE3A after their opponents forfeited. The date of UE3A's delayed matchday 1 fixture will be announced later. They will face SOA, the Ivorian runners-up.
