The start date of the Ivorian basketball championship, known as the N1, has been known since Sunday 30 October 2022. According to Mahama Coulibaly, president of the Ivorian Basketball Federation, it will begin on 26 November 2022. What is more, several competitions such as the domestic cups will return this season. The announcement was made in the General Assembly room at the Palais des sports in Treichville, Abidjan, during the federation's statutory general assembly. "Nationally, in addition to the N1 basketball championship, the FIBB will bring back the National Cup and the Super Cup. Among the new initiatives on the table, the Executive Committee plans federal tournaments in the communes and, above all, an independence day event. The first edition, currently in the works, will reveal its format. The Basket hike, veterans' day, the 3x3 Championship, the inter-company championship, as well as seminars on coach training and the professionalisation of clubs will add to the FIBB's efforts to promote the sport and build the capacity of key stakeholders.
These new initiatives will not stop the staging of the traditional youth championships, the inter-league finals, the All Star game, and the N1 (Men and Women), N2 (Men and Women) and N3 (Men) championships. As for the N1, the provisional date of Saturday 26 November 2022 will be the start of the N1 championship," said the head of Ivorian basketball on the federation's channels. Beyond domestic matters, especially the N1, continental events await basketball fans: the Women's AfroBasket, the AfroCHAN, the men's and women's U16 African championships and the international U13 championships, the BAL 2022-2023, the Women's African Champions Cup, the 3X3 Africa Cup, the Abidjan International Tournament and, above all, the 2023 Men's Senior World Cup, for which the Elephants have qualified, make up the FIBB's international calendar. SOA and CSAT will be the toughest opponents for reigning champions ABC.
