CAF CL: All quarter finalists known

The 6th and last day of the Champions League group stage has delivered its verdict. The last two matches were played on Sunday and the 8 teams qualified for the quarter-finals are known. Pyramids FC and Al Ahly caused a sensation by finishing the first round without any defeat.

Pyramids FC and RS Berkane in the quarter-finals in Group A

Holding the title, Pyramids FC has assumed its status. The Egyptian club finished first in group A with 16 points, being unbeaten. For the final day, the Egyptian team won (3-1) against Power Dynamo thanks to goals from Mostafa Zico, Youssef Obama and Ewerton Silva.

RS Berkane settled for second place.  The Moroccans hammered (3-0) Rivers United Football Club and have 10 points. Sufficient to qualify in the next round. Power Dynamos finishes 3rd with 7 points. Rivers United closes the gap in 4th place with 1 point.

Al Ahly unbeaten in group B, Yanga eliminated despite the wide victory

The Young Africans had to win and wait for a defeat of AS FAR in Egypt. Although the Tanzanians did their job by winning (3-0) ahead of JS Kabylie thanks to a double from Depu and a goal from Boka, the Moroccans achieved the draw (0-0) against Al Ahly, in a full international stadium in Cairo. 

Al Ahly is first with 12 points. AS FAR is ranked 2nd with 11 points. The Young Africans finish third with 8 points and JS Kabylie is last with 3 points.

Mamelodi Sundowns goes into the quarter-finals at the last minute

Mamelodi Sundowns, in group C, was able to qualify for the quarter-finals on the final day with 9 points. For this breakaway match against MC Alger, the South Africans did their job at home by taking over (2-0) with a double from Léon. The Algerian club finishes 3rd with 7 points.

Al Hilal, from Sudan, finished this first round on a good note. The Sudanese team pins (1-0) Lupopo of the DRC (4th, 5 points). She is first with 11 points.

Stade Malien is causing a sensation in Pool D

No one was expecting the Stade Malien at this level of performance. The club finishes in first place in group D with 11 points, a record of 3 wins, 2 draws and one defeat, despite the last day’s loss (1-0) against Simba Sports Club (4th, 5 points). 

Espérance de Tunis, with 9 points, is ranked 2nd in this group. The Tunisians validated their qualification on the last day after the victory (2-0) against Petro Luanda (3rd, 6 points).

All qualified for the quarter-finals of the CAF CL: Pyramids FC, RS Berkane, Al Ahly, AS FAR, Al Hilal, Mamelodi Sundowns, Malian Stadium, Espérance de Tunis.
