Another paedophilia case has emerged in Cameroonian football. Following the case of a coach accused of sexually abusing his players in the western city of Bafoussam, the new "affair" now centres on one Josué Chatué Nitcheu, president of the club Botafogo FC. The alleged sexual predator is accused of forcing his own players into homosexual practices with him.
The accusation follows the posting on social media of a pornographic video involving a man presented online as Mr Chatué Nitcheu. The Cameroonian Football Federation, through the regional league, has taken up the matter. A first sanction has already been handed down to the alleged sexual predator.
The body led by Samuel Eto'o decided on 22 May to "suspend [...] on a provisional basis Mr Chatué Nitcheu Josué, president of Botafogo Football Club, for inappropriate behaviour symbolised by a pornographic video ".
According to Fécafoot, the suspension will last for as long as the Ethics Commission needs "to rule on what football stakeholders in the Littoral region firmly condemn".
It should be noted that Josué Chatué Nitcheu has previously been jailed in Cameroon, in 2023, following an accusation of assault against the well-known Cameroonian businesswoman Rebecca Enonchong.
