An AFCON of hospitality must involve every section of the nation

The aim is to give students, who make up a significant segment of the population, a prominent role in celebrating African football on Ivorian soil.

The choice of these universities is no accident. Félix Houphouet-Boigny University has more than 60,000 students, while Nanguy Abrogoua University has more than 8,000. Following the example of these universities, all public and private higher education institutions are being called on to get behind this major continental sporting event.

Students ready to play their part in the 34th edition of the AFCON

Promising a dazzling show of support, the heads of the universities visited welcomed the COCAN delegation and said they were ready to contribute positively and answer the nation's call through COCAN's appeal.

The Local University Mobilisation Committee 1 is chaired by Professor Ballo Zié, President of Félix Houphouet-Boigny University in Cocody.

Professor Tanoh Yao, president of Nanguy Abrogoua University in Abobo - Adjamé, has been appointed chair of Local University Mobilisation Committee 2.

Energised and enthusiastic, the students answered COCAN's call in such numbers that the lecture theatres set aside for the occasion proved too small.

Minister Amichia sounds the call for students to rally behind a successful AFCON

24 nations will take part in the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, to be staged in 5 cities in Ivory Coast: Abidjan, Yamoussoukro, Korhogo, Bouaké and San-Pedro.

This mobilisation ceremony on campus is one of many mobilisation initiatives planned by COCAN, headed by Minister François Albert Amichia, to bring life to the regions, cities, stadiums and sites earmarked for AFCON 2023 across the length and breadth of Ivorian territory.
